The gypsies and travellers have flocked to Appleby in Cumbria every June for the last 300 years to celebrate the traditional Horse Fair. It’s meant to be good luck to wash your horses in the River Eden and fortunately it was a scorchingly hot day which made it much more enjoyable for all involved in the celebrations.
